Spider-Man Fans React to No Way Home Trailer News With Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield Predictions
It's been more than evident for over a year that there is no movie in recent memory quite like Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home. The MCU's Spidey threequel has taken on a life all its own, delivering more hype than arguably any Marvel Studios outing outside of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame - hype that shows no signs of slowing down.
After the longest wait for a first trailer in MCU history, the first look at Spider-Man: No Way Home brought cheers that could be heard across the globe as it became the most-watched trailer in its first 24 hours by a wide margin. Giving fans the long-awaited first look at a returning Doctor Octopus, teases of Doctor Strange's magic, and allusions towards the Green Goblin, amongst even more, this threequel instantly became the talk of the town.
This trailer became so big that, as the weeks went by, fan cries for a second full look at the MCU's last 2021 movie hit something beyond a fever pitch, specifically teasing the potential inclusion of both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective Spider-Men.
Now, that fever pitch has turned into an event all its own, with Sony announcing that it will be debuting the second trailer to a theater packed with fans in Sherman Oaks, California within days. Upon that announcement, fans from all across the Spidey fandom are making their thoughts heard regarding this unprecedented event.
No Way Home Fans Celebrate Second Trailer Debut
Following Sony's announcement revealing that the second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer will debut at a fan event in Sherman Oaks, California on November 16, fans voiced their opinions on Twitter about the event.
@bigscreenleaks shared The Direct's article reporting on the fan event, convinced that Spider-Man stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are the surprise in store:
"It has to be Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Why else would they do a fan event like this?"
@BradleyProm21 shared what he felt were the most likely reveals for the event along with his own wishes for what he would love to see, some of them on the crazier side:
"Ok, likely possibilities: - the Andrew Garfield/Tobey Maguire Spider-Men reveal - Charlie Cox as Daredevil reveal
dreams/wishes: - Spider-Family: Miles Morales, Spiderwomen (Gwen and/or Jessica), Spider-Man Noir, Scarlet Spider, Venom/Agent Venom, Silk - Prowler - Harry Osborn"
@CasualCosplayin shared a GIF of David Schwimmer's Ross Geller from the TV sitcom Friends while lamenting that they couldn't be in Southern California for the fan event:

@3CFilm used all caps in asking how he could attend the event in person while teasing how "wild" it would be to see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men confirmed here for the movie:
"HOW CAN I GO TO THIS?!? This is pretty cool.. would be wild if Tobey & Andrew are introduced in this event"
On the other side of the argument, @ReedReads4 didn't feel the need for a second trailer at all, as he felt that the first one showed enough footage from Spider-Man: No Way Home:
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ does not need another trailer or is that just me?

@TheTreyinator predicted that this event will be the first time that Tom Holland will be seen publicly alongside Maguire and Garfield, teasing a meeting of "3 generations" of the web-slinger's history:
The No Way Home trailer event is cool in the fact that Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire will all be there together for the first time publicly. 3 generations of Spider-Man. That’s epic. pic.twitter.com/JncW02aNjV

@YoltsImran fantasized about the event's major surprise being confirmation of all three Spider-Men and all five rumored villains appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home:
"Imagine if the surprise is Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, Jon Watts and Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, Rhys Ifans, Thomas Haden Church and Jamie Foxx Showing up on stage to confirm their involvement even though we all knew beforehand"
@BillusTheRillus expressed a hope for YouTuber John Campea to come to this screening after Campea leaked reportedly screenshotted images of the three Spider-Men together in the threequel.
"I hope John Campea, master of leaks, attends the Spider-Man trailer screening on Tuesday."
@OKalobi shared a GIF of a blooper featuring Willem Dafoe from 2002's Spider-Man, hoping to see his Green Goblin fully realized in the second trailer:

In a reply to the event's announcement, @zmorawiec took a shot at predicting how Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will come into play with so many villains posing a threat to Tom Holland's Spider-Man:
"I think that Tom Holland’s spider-man is gonna have a difficult time fighting the villains. Then out of nowhere Andrew Garfield and Tobey maguire’s spider-men will come to help Tom holland’s spider-man defeat the villains."
YouTuber and Tik Toker Matt Ramos, aka Supes, called Tuesday a historic moment that fans have spent so long waiting for:
"This Tuesday history will be made. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for and we’re almost there."
@VishalSid_1 predicted that the second Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer will break records set by 2018's Avengers: Infinity War while sharing a fan-made GIF of all three Spideys swinging through New York City:

CinemaBlend's Sean O'Connell asserted absolute certainty that not one cell phone will be allowed into the Sherman Oaks theater for this monumental event:
"Also.... If y'all think Sony's letting cellphones into that Spider-Man: No Way Home Sherman Oaks theater, you are insane."
While The Direct's own Matt Roembke looks forward to the trailer, he still has hope that Maguire and Garfield's presence in the movie will be a surprise saved for the movie's release:
"I would still love for any potential Tobey/Andrew moment to be left as a theater surprise."
Aeron Mer Eclarinal shared a quote from his own The Direct article reporting on the event, teasing that it's set to "reveal something major," potentially the first look at Maguire, Garfield, and Holland showing up and bringing "wild" reactions:
This special trailer screening seems poised to reveal something major, and it will be interesting to find out if the "big surprises" will ultimately be Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland standing side by side during the event. The reactions will be wild and insane."
The Direct writer/editor Klein Felt offered some sarcasm into the mix, saying he "can't wait" to only see information about the trailer on Twitter before watching the real trailer, complete with a "rolling eyes" emoji:
"Can't wait to read about the Spider-Man trailer on Twitter long before I actually get to see it."
Richard Nebens of The Direct said that the fact that this event is only for a trailer, not the full movie itself, says "all you need to know" about the scale of Spider-Man: No Way Home:
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are literally making an fan event out of a trailer release. Not a movie, a trailer. That says all you need to know.. What a time to be alive."
Light at the End of the Spidey Trailer Tunnel?
Safe to say, now that Spidey fans have a set timeframe for when to expect the second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home to arrive, another round of intense hype is building quickly for the MCU's 27th theatrical release.
Following a round of angry reactions to the lack of a new trailer a few weeks ago, fans are largely ecstatic to know that this film's second trailer is closer than expected. Particularly with the chance to see three generations of Spider-Man confirmed with appearances by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, this could be potentially one of the biggest fan events in MCU history.
Maguire and Garfield aside, plenty of hype is building to simply find out what Sony has in store regarding new footage that will tease what's coming in this blockbuster movie. No matter what the specifics turn out to be, all eyes will be on Sherman Oaks in just a few short days to see what Sony and Marvel have in store a month before the film's arrival.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will swing into theaters on December 17, 2021.
