Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Connects Miles Morales' Spider-Verse to the MCU (Theory)
The second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home just dropped and it leaned heavily into the multiversal implications of the threequel film.
The new teaser included the reveals of Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Jaime Foxx’s Electro, as well as Sandman from Spider-Man 3 and the Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man.
Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock was also featured at length in the latest look at the film as he was shown chatting it up with Peter Parker while simultaneously trying to kill him.
All of these old Spidey villains are seeping through the cracks of the multiverse, but even the very seams of the Multiversal wall teases yet another Spider-Man franchise that’s already gone down this path before.
The Multiverse Breaks in No Way Home
Toward the end of the new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange can be seen standing atop the Statue of Liberty where he tells Peter that he “can’t stop” other Multiversal beings from entering their universe.
The same sequence shows the night sky over New York City, but it’s cracked open to reveal a purple glow, which is likely the portal that the Sorcerer Supreme isn’t able to hold shut.
This shot recalls another familiar, visually-stunning Marvel moment in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse when Kingpin created his own chaotic multiversal portal that Miles Morales and his fellow wallcrawlers had to put a stop to.
The streets of New York City are shown in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse glitching and glowing with a similar purple hue with the edges of reality bending and breaking, which is similar to what is shown at the tail-end of the new No Way Home teaser.

Into the Spider-Verse… Again?
This shot in the No Way Home trailer of the Multiverse breaking apart is also similar to the scene shown in both the first and second trailers for the MCU Spidey threequel where Peter Parker “botched (Doctor Strange’s) spell.”
The purple background shown when Doctor Strange and Peter are seemingly standing in a different dimension looks similar to the new cracks in the sky. These are both heavy indicators that this purple-colored setting is the portal to both enter and exit the multiverse.
The colorful, chaotic nature of the Multiverse portal and the way it breaks into reflective shards in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s trailer does resemble a live-action iteration of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s take on inter-dimensional travel.
In the live-action movies, Venom: Let There Be Carnage got the ball rolling on for Sony and Marvel connecting to the MCU with Tom Holland's cameo as Spider-Man. It would be quite a treat if fans also get to see someone like Shameik Moore’s Miles Morales drop into the MCU along with fellow webheads Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Regardless of who falls through that Multiverse portal in the sky in No Way Home's newest trailer, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's influence on the portal's design can't be ignored. With how many elements from Sony's old Spider-Man movies are being used for the MCU threequel, it isn't unreasonable to expect some more Spider-Verse teases, too.
Tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home go on sale November 29, and the movie will debut in theaters on December 17.
