Tom Holland Puts His Spider-Man Future In Question With Miles Morales Comment

Tom Holland Peter Parker Miles Morales

Tom Holland has recently not been too subtle in indicating that he may soon be vacating the role of Peter Parker after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Earlier this month, Holland was asked about his future as the famous web crawler and was unsure, saying, "I don't know. I don't know. I genuinely don't know."

One rumor pointed to Holland's Peter Parker suffering and potentially losing "everyone he loves." Holland himself has said that No Way Home isn't "fun," and that it will be "dark" and "sad" with characters going through things "you would never wish for them to go through."

Now, a new interview with Holland has the actor giving his most explicit answer regarding his MCU future yet.

An MCU Without Peter Parker?

In anticipation of Spider-Man: No Way Home during an interview with GQ, Tom Holland was asked about his future as Spider-Man.

After spending six years of his life as Spider-Man, Sony film producer Amy Pascal said that she has "talked to [Tom Holland] about doing, like, 100 more" and that she wouldn't want "to make Spider-Man movies without him."

Unfortunately for Pascal, Holland doesn't feel the same way, saying, "Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what's best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life."

Holland further stated that "If I'm playing Spider-Man after I'm 30, I've done something wrong."

Earlier in the interview, GQ reaffirmed that No Way Home was the last film on Holland's contract for the role of Spider-Man, meaning it's entirely up to the young actor whether to continue wearing the mask. Holland said that "it's kind of terrifying:"

"It's very strange... The last six years of my life, I always had a job to go to... It's kind of terrifying, but it's also really exciting."

Tom Holland's Spider-Man No More?

It does seem like Spider-Man: No Way Home could be providing Tom Holland an out. The most likely conclusion that would accomplish this would be Doctor Strange successfully casting his spell by the end of the film and everyone forgetting that Peter Parker was Spider-Man.

Considering Holland's comment about not playing Spider-Man past 30 and how long it takes for these films to be made, it seems like he only has one more Spider-Man film in him before hanging up the mask. But, of course, Holland has been open about helping the next actor who will eventually replace him, as he considers the role a big responsibility.

It's excellent that Holland mentioned Miles Morales potentially replacing Peter Parker as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many fans have been anticipating it ever since Donald Glover appeared as Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Fans will see for sure where Holland's Peter Parker ends up when they see Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters on December 17, 2021.
