Spider-Man: No Way Home Soundtrack Leaks Early Online
For as fruitful as Spider-Man: No Way Home's marketing campaign has been, Tom Holland's third Peter Parker flick has been plagued by leaks. Everything from the film's first trailer to heavily spoilery set photos have made their way online days, weeks, and months before they were scheduled to be unearthed. While some of these leaks have been proven false, others have been shut down by Sony Pictures themselves, indicating their legitimacy.
As December 17 inches closer, No Way Home has revved up its advertisements, recycling footage from previous trailers in their new social spots. This has created a pseudo-protective layer around the film, as with less than two weeks to go, the biggest remaining surprises are evidently being saved for the theater.
While visuals are somewhat safe for now, audio remains volatile.
Spider-Man: No Way Home's Soundtrack Leaks
Spidey's score couldn't wait two more weeks.
The soundtrack for Spider-Man: No Way Home has leaked online ahead of the film's December 17 release. A Reddit user shared a YouTube link to "No Way Home Soundtrack Possible Soundtrack Preview." While the video's legitimacy remained unknown, it has since been removed due to a "copyright claim by Sony Music Entertainment":
The leaked soundtrack was also shared on Reddit via a Google Drive link, which has subsequently been removed.
Spider-Man: No Way Fans Are Hearing the Soundtrack Early
Copyrighted material doesn't get far past YouTube's algorithm. Regardless of what's on the track list, the No Way Home score isn't arriving online unless it's uploaded by Sony Pictures itself.
That said, film soundtracks have been known to spoil films before.
1999's Star Wars: The Phantom Menace infamously spoiled Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn's death in the film's tracklist. Episode I's soundtrack, which was officially released online two weeks before The Phantom Menace, included a song titled "Qui-Gon's Noble End." If that wasn't obvious enough, the very next track is titled "The High Council Meeting and Qui-Gon's Funeral."
While most studios have learned about the spoilery risks that come with soundtracks in the 22 years since that infamous error, simply releasing the audio with placeholder titles still risks spoiling major plot points. If either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield are in this movie, their iconic themes will likely come with them. Hearing either Danny Elfman or James Horner's famous compositions would all but confirm the previous Peter Parkers' presences in No Way Home.
Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters on December 17.
