Star Wars Leak Spoils Empires Strikes Back Cameo In Obi-Wan Kenobi Show
Obi-Wan Kenobi will showcase a thrilling adventure for the titular Jedi Master against the Empire, meaning that he will be chased down by a plethora of villains. Hayden Christensen's Darth Vader is leading the charge to track down Obi-Wan and every remaining Jedi Knight in the galaxy. Alongside Vader is the full might of the Empire and his loyal Inquisitors, led by Rupert Friend's Grand Inquisitor.
Despite the obvious dominant forces of the Empire, it remains to be seen if other characters from the galaxy far, far, away will be tapped to join the hunt for Obi-Wan and the surviving Jedi.
Many feel that bounty hunters appear to be at the top of the list whenever there is a need to track someone down. In that same vein, a new rumor may have indicated that Vader will contact a familiar face to help him achieve his goal of capturing Obi-Wan and his allies.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Rumor Reveals Returning Character
Star Wars News Net shared that bounty hunter 4-LOM will appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi. While the character briefly appeared on screen in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, the outlet pointed out that 4-LOM will have a bigger role in the upcoming Disney+ series.
4-LOM is a protocol droid who overrode his programming to become a galactic thief and bounty hunter. After the Battle of Hoth, 4-LOM was hired by Darth Vader to capture Han Solo, but he was bested by Boba Fett.
The droid/bounty hunter has also appeared in several comic book issues, such as Star Wars, Darth Vader, Bounty Hunters, and War of the Bounty Hunters. The outlet noted that 4-LOM will not meet its demise in the series, since the aforementioned comics take place after the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Vs. The Empire's Forces
Based on stories from Star Wars comics, 4-LOM is a calculating and dangerous bounty hunter who specializes in anticipating the moves of its targets. If this rumor is true, then Obi-Wan should be cautious when facing this protocol-droid-turned-bounty-hunter during his mission to protect Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa.
It is reasonable to assume that 4-LOM will be recruited by the Empire to help with their mission to hunt down the remaining Jedi in the galaxy. However, as history reveals, 4-LOM will be unsuccessful in capturing Obi-Wan, but the droid could have tracked down other surviving Jedi instead.
4-LOM's success in capturing other Jedi would've caught Darth Vader's attention, thus leading to the droid's return in The Empire Strikes Back. The droid's menacing nature combined with the fact that it has no emotions could prove to be a valuable asset for Vader and the Empire.
In addition, Star Wars also noted that 4-LOM has claimed several high-profile bounties for the Hutt Clan, potentially hinting that his appearance in the series could be in Tatooine. It's possible that a fateful encounter with Obi-Wan might be in the cards for the bounty hunter as well.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 25, 2022.
