Zack Snyder Still Hopeful For Justice League 2 Despite Warner Bros. Being 'Anti-Snyder'

Justice League, Zack Snyder

Only about three months remain until the DC Extended Universe makes its grand return to theaters with James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, kicking off a run of five movies in the next two years. While all this is happening, fans are still in deep discussion over the events of Zack Snyder's Justice League, the director's true vision for the story of DC's superhero team.

The Snyder Cut came into existence largely due to the efforts of the #RestoreTheSnyderCut movement, which rose to prominence after Snyder's renewed movie released in March. Zack Snyder himself has shown plenty of support for this movement, which has now focused its attention on calling for all of his plans for the DCEU to be brought back to life.

Even with the troubles that lie ahead, Snyder seems optimistic about his chances of coming back for more.

SNYDER HOPEFUL FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE 2

In an interview on the Jake's Takes YouTube channel, via Cinema Blend, DCEU director Zack Snyder spoke of Warner Bros. being very against the idea of bringing the Snyderverse back to life.

Calling the studio "aggressively anti-Snyder," the director makes it clear that "they’re not interested in [his] take" for the future of the DCEU as he had originally planned it. Even with this sentiment, he admits that he loves "the characters" and "the world" after working with them for most of the last decade.

Here's what Snyder had to say when he was asked about the potential of a Zack Snyder's Justice League 2 actually coming to fruition:

"I would think about it this way. Yes, Warner Bros. has been aggressively anti-Snyder, if you will. And that’s… what can you say? What can I say? Clearly they’re not interested in my take. But I would also say that they certainly weren’t interested in my take on Justice League. They certainly made decisions about that. And I love the characters, and I love the worlds, and I think it’s an amazing place to make a movie. It’s glorious IP. So there’s that."

Snyder also touched on the fan movement supporting his work, calling the intention "so pure" and professing his "huge respect for it." Although he hopes "cooler heads would prevail" at Warner Bros., he seems to have no idea what will happen:

"I don’t know what could be done as you go forward, other than, I think the fan movement is so strong, and the fan community is so -- the intention is so pure. And I really have huge respect for it. I would hope that cooler heads would prevail with (Warner Bros.) and that they would see that there’s this massive fandom that wants more of that. But who knows what they’ll do?"

WILL THE SNYDERVERSE SURVIVE?

Although Zack Snyder clearly loves his work with the DCEU and loves the following he's built, this is certainly a tough situation with how Warner Bros. is playing their cards.

The studio currently has plans for over half a dozen movies and tv shows to add to the story in the coming years, although Snyder isn't directly involved with any of them. With the director and the studio at a crossroads for the moment, there is no telling what will actually happen with so many other stories to bring to life.

The fans have made their voices heard in the matter, making the #RestoreTheSnyderverse movement one of the most popular on social media since the four-hour Snyder Cut became one of HBO Max's most-watched outings. With this success and the passion still going strong two months later, fans will be keeping a close eye on the DCEU to see if and how release plans change.

For now, Zack Snyder's Justice League is available to stream on HBO Max.
