Ms. Marvel is set to introduce a brand-new hero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it's clear that anticipation is high for the character's debut. The upcoming series will be led by newcomer Iman Vellani, who is set to play the MCU's Kamala Khan alongside a plethora of new characters.

Information about Ms. Marvel remains scarce, but Marvel Studios did confirm several details about the series during Disney Investor Day last December. It was revealed that Kamala is a fanfic writer who admires the Avengers, but her whole life will change when she receives her own superpowers.

Alongside the intriguing plot details, major cast members of the show were also confirmed, with the likes of Aramis Knight and Zenobia Shroff joining the massive ensemble.

Ms. Marvel will also be directed by a slew of established directors, ranging from Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon.

Production is currently ongoing in Thailand, but it seems that filming has reached its end based on a new report.

MS. MARVEL WRAPS FILMING

Variety shared in a report that production has wrapped for Ms. Marvel in Thailand. To recap, the upcoming Marvel series was relocated to the Asian country after filming scenes in Atlanta, Georgia.

The outlet revealed that the shoot in Thailand was under the direction of two-time Oscar winner Obaid-Chinoy, and it "spanned episodes four and five in their entirety."

A third wave resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Thailand forced the government to impose new restrictions that led to the shutdown of film and TV productions.

Despite that, Variety revealed that Ms. Marvel was able to "obtain a waiver and continue filming” since they were already observing strict anti-virus protocols like closed sets, mandatory testing, mandatory masks and face shields on set, and controlled air systems.

KAMALA KHAN HEADS TO THAILAND

It is a good sign that Ms. Marvel has wrapped filming, considering the challenges brought about by the ongoing pandemic. In many ways, this is a major development for the Disney+ series.

Based on the production timeline of the series, it seems fitting that Ms. Marvel finished off its scenes in a foreign country, mainly due to the unpredictable travel restrictions brought about by COVID-19. It is also commendable that Marvel Studios enforced strong health protocols, and it's safe to say that this practice will be implemented in future Marvel productions for the foreseeable future.

It remains to be seen what the aforementioned episodes will showcase, but it's reasonable to assume that they will fit the narrative naturally as opposed to serving as filler chapters.

It is currently unknown how or why Kamala will end up in Thailand, but it's possible that the story beat will revolve around her friend Kareem a.k.a. Red Dagger. Aramis Knight is set to play the Marvel character, and evidence from the comics suggests that a romantic connection between Kamala and Kareem could be adapted in the series.

There's a strong chance that Kamala and Red Dagger will team up for a potential mission in the Asian country, thus cementing their bond. On the flip side, a possibility of flashback scenes being filmed to dive deep into Kareem's origin could also be in the cards.

At this stage, the story possibilities are endless, and all will be revealed when Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ in late 2021.
