The Flash Director Reveals How the Justice League Differs From New Superhero Team

Flash Supergirl Batman

It's been awhile, aside from Zack Snyder's Justice League, since DC has had a hit film. Wonder Woman 1984 released this past December, but the general response from the world wasn't all that positive. So, Warner Bros. is probably champing at the bit for something successful when it comes to its DC Comics properties.

Good thing for them, the studio has a whopping four films currently in production––five if counting The Batman being in post-production. This includes films like Black Adam, which has been trying to get off the ground for over a decade at this point. Another film in a similar situation is The Flash's first solo movie.

The Flash has long been talked about but has always fallen apart right before getting to the starting line. The character's first appearance in a live-action film came in Justice League––but everyone knows how that worked out. Yet, somehow, Ezra Miller's version of the character is getting another chance

Now, a brand-new teaser for the film has leaked online, and the film's director spoke on the movie's connection to the Justice League...

UNLIKELY JUSTICE LEAGUE MEMBERS WILL PREVAIL

A featurette for The Flash film was unofficially revealed. Alongside the many pieces of concept art unveiled, there was an interesting quote by director Andy Muschietti where he mentioned that, unlike the Justice League, the "underdog" heroes will be the saviors of his movie:

"Justice League, that is not the powerful Justice League that we all know... Have solar-powered alien and two idiots... embrace the fact that these underdogs are going to save the world."

AN ALIEN AND TWO IDIOTS

It is a little difficult to make out what exactly Muschietti is aiming to say in this quote, but at the least, it seems that the director is talking about the trio of Sasha Calle's Supergirl, Michael Keaton's Batman, and The Flash. If that's the case, it would seem they are going to be the core focus of the movie when it comes to the heroes of the story.

Where does that leave Ben Affleck's Batman? All signs point to that adaption of the character only playing a small role in the film. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if The Dark Knight didn't exist by the time of the film's credits roll.

That is, however, the general purpose of a Flashpoint-type storyline––to reshape one's world, the perfect weapon for Warner Bros. when it comes to the DCEU.

Hopefully, the studio uses those great powers to somehow loop in Robert Pattinson's Batman and maybe even the upcoming new Superman. Though, with all the flaws that Snyder's films have had, completely getting rid of Henry's Cavil is something Warner Bros. may inevitably avoid.

The Flash is set to premiere in theaters on November 4, 2022.
