Doctor Strange 2 Rumor Teases Significant Cameos
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one MCU project that a great many have earmarked ahead of its debut. The recently-delayed Marvel film is said to blow the doors open to the Multiverse, taking the reality-breaking torch from this summer's Loki on Disney+.
Hollywood veteran Sam Raimi is taking the director's chair on the Doctor Strange follow-up with his horror movie pedigree reportedly being on full display.
While many sit in eager anticipation for the project, the announcement revealing significant reshoots for Multiverse of Madness has shrouded the film in a wave of doubt. However, in this case, the reshoot schedule may not spell all the doom and gloom that some expected.
Multiverse of Madness Making Time for Cameos
According to The GWW's KC Walsh, the recently announced reshoots for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are to add "people who were busy (filming a show) during principal [photography]" and to streamline "a pivotal scene that also involves 'cameos':"
"Got some info on these reshoots and what I said here is basically what’s happening, Feige is actually pleased with Raimi and the films direction, they are adding people who were busy (filming a show *wink emoji*) during principle, n stream lining a pivotal scene that also involves 'cameos'"
When asked if Hugh Jackman's Wolverine would be one of the cameo appearances, Walsh simply said, "No idea."
A few days back, Walsh speculated that these additional filming efforts could be to "[explain] and [expand] the concept of the multiverse" for those who "haven’t been watching D+," and noted that "a lot of actors are involved" in the extensive reshooting schedule:
"My guess would be to spend more time explaining and expanding the concept of the multiverse in case people haven’t been watching D+
It does also sound like a lot of actors are involved and they may have had trouble getting people when they needed them"
Doctor Strange Cameos On the Way?
There have been plenty of rumors surrounding Multiverse of Madness, including ones that tease some pretty interesting cameos, and this is just more fuel to the fire.
Arguably the biggest name getting thrown around is Patrick Stewart's Professor X from the Fox X-Men franchise. Now could he be involved in this reshoot plan? Perhaps! One has to ask themselves - if Stewart is in this film, how involved will he be? Could he just be a brief cameo, or something more intrinsically tied to this film and the future of the MCU?
Also, if Fox's original Professor X is on the docket, this could mean someone like James McAvoy as the Charles Xavier from the Fox X-Men prequel movies could show up. Once this Pandora's box is opened, the possibilities truly are endless.
Something else to note here is the idea of really breaking down what the Multiverse means in this Marvel universe. Yes, fans who have been keeping up on Disney+ have been introduced to the concept by way of Loki, but even those who are all caught up are still left wondering what exactly the rules are here.
According to sources, Kevin Feige and the Marvel brass have had a 'Meeting of the Multiverse', putting together all the rules of what it means now that reality has literally been broken in the MCU. So this feels like it could be a great time to really narrow down what the rules of this new universe (or universes) are.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will release in theaters on May 6, 2022.
