Mark Hamill Calls Out Aaron Rodgers' Star Wars Hoodie Amid Controversy
There is nary a thing that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic hasn't touched. Whether it's the pushing of release dates, on-set testing and protocols, or the closing and reopening of theaters, SARS-CoV-2 has left its mark on the movie industry for better or worse.
This has been the same case in sports. One of the biggest stories right now in the sporting world has the one been surrounding Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. The NFL quarterback has found himself in a flurry of controversy after whether he had been vaccinated or not came into question.
The nine-time Pro Bowler has been accused of misleading his team in regard to his vaccination status. Well, now after contracting the virus, it turns out he has not received a COVID-19 shot and had instead sought "alternative treatments".
Rodgers recently appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to explain himself and did so sporting an outfit that caught the eye of one of Hollywood's best and brightest.
Mark Hamill Does Not Approve
Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill tweeted in response to NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers' recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
Hamill brought light to the fact that Rodgers had to take responsibility for his recent vaccine blunders wearing a Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker-branded hoodie.
The Hollywood legend posted saying:
"Of all the sweatshirts he could have worn, he had to take full responsibility in THAT one?"
Luke Skywalker Would Get the Jab
Mark Hamill gets it. The Star Wars icon doesn't come out of his Twitter hibernation often, but when he does, it is to dunk on people like this. No matter what side someone comes down on the vaccination front, it's hard not to chuckle at Hamill's tweet.
It is rather interesting that Rodgers appeared here with such an iconic logo emblazoned across their chest. Usually, in these instances with athletes, they show up either porting their own brand or one that has a significant financial stake in said athlete. Rarely do they come sporting iconography of their favorite film, and especially one as reviled as Rise of Skywalker.
Was the 2020 NFL MVP trying to make a statement? Probably not, but it is interesting to think what Rodgers thought of the conclusion to the Skywalker saga.
Or perhaps, considering the circumstances where a number of big-name sponsors have pulled the Green Bay QB from their team, this was just a case of a man who didn't know what to wear and threw on his favorite comfy Star Wars hoodie.
Surely there are some executives at Disney seeing this interview and shaking their heads similarly to Mark Hamill here. However, for one reason or another, they choose to keep their eye rolls to themselves instead of taking to Twitter.
